The first method we discussed only allows you to install free themes from the WordPress.org theme directory. But what if you want to install a commercial "premium" WordPress theme from ThemeLab, StudioPress, iThemes, or another company? What if you want to use a different theme? In this case, you must install the theme via the upload method in your WordPress admin.

Begin by downloading the.zip file of the theme from a marketplace or a commercial theme provider.

Next login to your WordPress admin area and click on Appearance » Themes..

When you've arrived at the themes page, click the Add New button at the top.

On the next screen, at the top, click the Upload Theme button.

You will be prompted to select the zip file that you previously downloaded. Choose the file and press the Install Now button.

Once your theme has been installed, you will see a success message with a link to activate and preview it.

After clicking the activate button, your WordPress theme has been successfully installed and activated. Depending on the theme, it may include additional settings options that you must configure via the theme customizer or a separate options panel.
